Tech at School
I’ve been turning over some ideas in my head after having a chat with a few of the 5th grade teachers. A few years ago they put together a wonderful site called “The Greatest Invention Ever” that tied into a class project by the same name. That was back in the day when we were still using Publisher from Microsoft to create our school site. Since then we’ve switched to using Contribute, which is great for the teachers but lacks a component to let the kids on to make changes. So this wonderful project got put aside. Now I’m wondering if I couldn’t set up a wiki for these teachers to use instead. The one that I’ve found that I like is great but requires an email address. Our kids don’t have an email address as per school rules. I’m having difficulty working around that. At what age are kids old enough to start having an email account? How do we as educators keep them safe as they use it?
