I Can Do This!

April 7th, 2008

I’ve been at this teaching gig for a few years now.  And one thing that never ceases to amaze me is exactly how much there is to get done in the spring!   Everything from solos to learn for Solo and Ensemble Contest to organizing the Talent Show Fundraiser.  The sheer amount of things to get [...]

Inspired 5th Graders

February 13th, 2008

This neat little composing/lyric writing group has been forming out of my 5th grade chorus.  It all started when Alex and Dillon wrote this crazy little ditty about a headless carnivore (that’s right you heard it) to the tune of “I Believe I Can Fly”.  Then one of the other 5th graders Nate learned how [...]

Merry Christmas!

December 20th, 2007

Today there is one more day of school left before break.  I’ve been watching the Nutcracker with both the the 1st and 2nd grades.  So far it’s been a hit.  The boys enjoy the fight scene while the girls are enamored by all the pretty costumes.
On Tuesday we had our only Christmas concert in Iroquois [...]

One down, two to go!

October 16th, 2007

Tonight my Middle School chorus presented Jack and the Beanstalk.  It was totally student run.  I have never been so proud of kids in a musical I directed.  I can’t wait to see what we accomplish for the Christmas Concert.  I’ve posted the pictures on flickr at http://www.flickr.com/photos/bmuench/sets/72157602331695555/

I need to figure out how to do this!

Holy Cow!

Ashley would be someone great to talk about with my 5th graders!

My Smile File

October 2nd, 2007

A few years ago at a conference a presenter gave me that idea of keeping a “Smile File”.  It’s a file that I put encouraging notes or articles in so that I can refer to them when I’m feeling down or like I’m not quite sure of my teaching potenial.  I can reach in a [...]
